Tuesday, April 17:
4:30-6:30pm: reading of Acts I-II of Romeo and Juliet, at the Humanities Open House, which is to take place on the first floor of Ida Noyes.
7:00pm: Doc Films is showing West Side Story, everyone's favorite R&J spin-off.
Saturday, April 21:
3:00-5:30/6:00pm: finish reading and discussing the play in Cobb 203
6:00-7:00: break, optional dinner together
7:00: Showing of Baz Luhrman's Romeo+Juliet, and discussion, in Cobb 203. (Film will be wide-screen and projected.) You're encouraged to bring other examples of later reinterpretations or re-inventions of the play, such as paintings, songs, poems, or other works of art (eg Langston Hughes' Juliet). Please let me know if you have something to bring, so we can plan how to incorporate it, and work out media-details (such as, if you bring a CD, we could play it, etc.).
"The Literary Society is an organization dedicated to student writers and those who simply love literature. We hold bi-monthly writers workshops where authors can bring their works in progess and get some helpful feedback. We also occassionally host events on campus.
